Family Race Day Fun! We enjoyed a fantastic day out at the Windsor Races with all of our S4K families and friends on the May bank holiday. The sun was shining, the ice cream was chilled (albeit slowly delivered by Coach Mark) and the money was pouring in from Steve’s Race Day Tips…well there were a number of winners anyway! We all had a great time and feedback from our members has been so positive that we have already begun preparations for our Summer Party. S4K Tournament Success! We saw our S4K Strikers and Academy members take to centre stage at our first S4K inter-venue tournament!  Our budding young footballers were cheered on from the side-lines by mums, dads, brothers, sisters and grandparents…although we did have to remind grandma not to put her football boots on a couple of times! The day was a huge success and every child left with a huge smile on their face and a medal that has been shown to school friends and neighbours for weeks afterwards.  Our Strikers and Academy members took to the pitch for small sided games and were coached throughout by our experienced and energetic football coaching teams. Is there a Doctor in the house? We are excited and very proud to announce that our Head Coach is now a Doctor!! Yes Head Coach Dr Mark Gould has this week passed his Psychology PhD with flying colours! We may see him taking classes with a stethoscope or even have the odd nurse in attendance listening to his every word? Of course I confuse psychology with medicine, and it would be remiss of me not to emphasize the great value that Mark’s passion for psychology has gone into designing all of our classes and learning routines.  It has and will continue to be crucial and more relevant to the development of our children. As a founder of Sport4Kids we all knew Mark has a passion for blending child development, sports coaching and the psychology of teaching. Today this is Official. Well done Mark! The S4K philosophy is all about developing children in sports from a child centric perspective. “The S4K Way” looks to build confidence and skills first in our children and gradually increase the level of competition. We start with toddlers from 18 months and nurture our talented children through to their teen years. In previous generations, the skills of tomorrow’s footballers were born on the cul-de-sac streets and playing field pitches of working class Britain, until it got dark or mum called you in for tea, I know I was that kid on Merseyside! Competitive football for kids began at age 8 or so, usually on a full size pitch, with dads clubbing together to give lifts to matches home and away.  S4K is at the forefront of making things better and we welcome the FA for their recent announcements to bring in gradual competition for our budding Beckhams including smaller sided matches. In support of this the F.A. has recently regulated equipment, pitch and team sizes for each level of competitive football in England. Brazilian month was a huge success at Sport4Kids, with our S4K Tots splatting Brazilian bugs, our S4K Kickers learning to dribble around our Samba Coaches and our S4K Strikers and Academy displaying the flair and tricks associated with the Samba Stars! Sport4Kids child centric football coaching takes the best from countries around the world. Passing and movement from the Spanish Tikka Takka, dribbling from the Brazilians and individual skills and Total Football from the Dutch. Direct Debit & New Membership Manager Due to member feedback, we are delighted to announce the arrival of a Direct Debit payment for our children’s football classes… £32.50 per month No minimum term contract Direct Debit taken on the 15th of every month Discounts available for multiple classes No more renewal phone calls We will have online Direct Debit facilities shortly, but in the meantime, please ask your children’s football coaching team at the venue for a form or email us on admin@sport4kids.biz.  All forms must be returned to our team by the end of the month in order to ensure that the payments are set up for the following month. We will still be offering the usual six weeks of kids football classes at £45 for anyone who is unable to sign up for Direct Debit too. Sport4Kids are delighted to announce our first inter-venue football tournament! Sport4Kids are pleased to announce our first inter-venue football tournament!  This will see teams from all of our venues across Surrey, Hampshire and Berkshire meet for a series of small sided games, resulting in the crowning of one team as the S4K Cup Winners and one team as the S4K Vase Winners. Date: Saturday 6th April 2013 Time:  1400-1700 Place: Windsor Leisure Centre, Clewer Mead, Stovell Road, Windsor, Berkshire SL4 5JB Cost: £10 per player Details:  The tournament is being held for our S4K Strikers (5-7 years) and S4K Academy (7+ years).  The tournament will take place indoors and trainers or astro-turf footwear should be worn.  The tournament will feature a group stage, followed by two independent trophy rounds – the S4K Cup and the S4K Vase.  Members are required to stay and watch their child perform. Sport4Kids Game Time! Sport4Kids midweek Game Time session was launched in March to introduce our S4K Strikers and Academy children to real pressure football match situations. Game Time is split into three segments – Low Pressure, Teamwork and Game Pressure.  Each of these segments is designed to gently increase the pressure on our kids to develop the speed at which they are able to execute the football skills and vision that is learned in our S4K Skills classes.  The “Low Pressure” section is our no tackling area, which aims to teach vision and the pass and move football philosophy.  The “Teamwork” section relates to team movement, passing exercises and individual skill on the football with the emphasis on beating an opponent to create opportunity.  Lastly, our S4K Strikers and Academy children are exposed to “Game Pressure”, which involves all of the “hurly burly” of real football matches including tackling.  The emphasis of the S4K philosophy is gradual stress increase to enhance confidence, skill and movement – ultimately resulting in individual improvement in our under 7s and under 9s.  Our ultimate aim is to prepare the children for our S4K Football Club launch later this year, where we will be playing [...]

The majority of our venues will be functioning as normal over the Easter weekend – so we can continue to keep our S4K children entertained and burn off some of that excess, chocolate induced, energy!
