“I was worried about taking Harry to camp. He takes a while to warm up in new situations and we’ve had difficulty at various after school clubs and camps in the past. He was reluctant to go to S4K and I thought we were in for a struggle until we met Coach Matt at the door. He had a big smile, gave Harry a big high five and welcomed him (and me!) to the camp with open arms. He took time to talk to me about Harry being shy and immediately introduced him to Coach Laura and his teammates. I stayed and watched for 5 minutes as my son went from being reluctant and teary to smiling and forgetting my existence. He was still full of beans when I picked him up and loved meeting his new friends. “We’ve taken my three to a few camps over the years, but we have been really impressed with S4K. The level of information provided ahead of the day, the different games and activities each day and week (they were there over the whole six weeks of summer) and the coaches were excellent. It makes such a difference to have coaches who coach for the company during the week in schools. There is far more rigour and structure to the program compared to other camps we have tried – not forgetting the fun too! “We found out about S4K Camp as we attend the weekend rugby classes. This was my boy’s first experience of a camp. I was apprehensive about him staying from 8-6pm, but us working parents need these times to make the days work. I can safely say that Alfie was entertained for the full 10 hours. He was even on the winning team, which meant he was very happy, smiley, even if a little sweaty, when I picked him up. “I took Amy to S4K Camp for her first day on Wednesday. Even though her friends were going, she was being a typical 11 year old and not wanting to go (she thinks she is old enough to stay home). The coaches understood her and were able to take her under their wings and teach her how to coach the younger children and her day at camp turned into work experience.
