Early Years Ratios

The UK national ratio for Early Years settings varies depending on the age of the children and the type of provision. Here are the current ratios as outlined by the government:

• For children aged 3-5 years (in a maintained nursery or pre-school): The ratio is 1 staff member to 13 children, or 2 staff members to 26 children.
• For children aged 3-5 years (in other early years settings): The ratio is 1 staff member to 8 children, or 2 staff members to 16 children.

These ratios are based on the minimum requirements set by the government, and some settings may choose to operate with higher ratios in order to provide additional support and individual attention to children.
