Sport4Kids midweek Game Time session was launched in March to introduce our S4K Strikers and Academy children to real pressure football match situations.
Game Time is split into three segments – Low Pressure, Teamwork and Game Pressure. Each of these segments is designed to gently increase the pressure on our kids to develop the speed at which they are able to execute the football skills and vision that is learned in our S4K Skills classes. The “Low Pressure” section is our no tackling area, which aims to teach vision and the pass and move football philosophy. The “Teamwork” section relates to team movement, passing exercises and individual skill on the football with the emphasis on beating an opponent to create opportunity. Lastly, our S4K Strikers and Academy children are exposed to “Game Pressure”, which involves all of the “hurly burly” of real football matches including tackling. The emphasis of the S4K philosophy is gradual stress increase to enhance confidence, skill and movement – ultimately resulting in individual improvement in our under 7s and under 9s. Our ultimate aim is to prepare the children for our S4K Football Club launch later this year, where we will be playing in local tournaments and against other football clubs.
