The S4K philosophy is all about developing children in sports from a child centric perspective. “The S4K Way” looks to build confidence and skills first in our children and gradually increase the level of competition.
We start with toddlers from 18 months and nurture our talented children through to their teen years. In previous generations, the skills of tomorrow’s footballers were born on the cul-de-sac streets and playing field pitches of working class Britain, until it got dark or mum called you in for tea, I know I was that kid on Merseyside!
Competitive football for kids began at age 8 or so, usually on a full size pitch, with dads clubbing together to give lifts to matches home and away. S4K is at the forefront of making things better and we welcome the FA for their recent announcements to bring in gradual competition for our budding Beckhams including smaller sided matches.
In support of this the F.A. has recently regulated equipment, pitch and team sizes for each level of competitive football in England. From under-7s all the way through to senior, there are now recommended sizes for ball, pitch, goalpost and team size. S4K is adopting these size guidelines and equipment retailer The Soccer Store has kindly collated these recommendations into a handy infographic which we share here.
